Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a contract between you and Bates Publishing, operator of Bates Math at batesmath.com. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them, together with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, and the Charges page.

Bates Math does not sell a paid plan and does not take payment card details.

Bates Math is an online practice product built on Bates Publishing textbooks. With a signed-in Google account you can use the subject roadmap, the daily problem, practice, spaced review, weekly leagues, and an AI tutor (“Ask Bates”). There is one product.

Fair-use rate limits may apply, especially to the tutor, so the product stays usable. Limits that are shown in the product are the ones that apply.

You must be at least 13 years old and able to form a contract. The product is intended for secondary-school mathematics. If you use Bates Math for someone else (a parent creating an account for a teenager who is 13 or older), you are responsible for that person's compliance with these Terms.

Accounts are created with Google sign-in. You must keep the Google account you use under your control. You are responsible for activity on your Bates Math account. We may refuse, suspend, or delete an account that appears to be automated, shared, or used to evade limits.

One person should use one student account. Staff roles (admin, editor) are granted by Bates Publishing and are not for sale.

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Bates Math for your own study, in accordance with these Terms. You may not copy the problem catalogue for redistribution, scrape the site, reverse engineer the service except where the law says you may, or use the product to build a competing question bank.

You must follow the Acceptable Use Policy. That policy is part of these Terms. We may suspend or delete an account that breaks it.

Ask Bates, in-lesson hints, and generated visual problems are produced by machine-learning models. They can be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. They are not:

• a teacher, examiner, or accredited course;
• a guarantee of any exam result;
• professional, legal, or medical advice;
• a substitute for working the problem yourself.

You are responsible for how you use tutor output. Do not submit generated answers as your own work where your school forbids it. Do not rely on a single model reply as the only check before an exam.

Output is generated for your session. We do not grant you the right to republish generated problems or tutor transcripts as a commercial product.

Bates Publishing owns the textbooks, problem statements, figures, marks, and software that make up Bates Math, except for third-party components (for example Google's mark on the sign-in button, or open-source libraries). You do not acquire any ownership by using the service.

Similar practice items are drawn from the reviewed Bates catalogue. They are not generated on demand.

You retain whatever rights you have in the text you type (answers, tutor messages, the display name you choose). You grant Bates Publishing a licence to host, process, and display that content as needed to run the service — including sending tutor messages to the inference provider, grading answers, and showing your name to you.

You must not submit content you do not have the right to use, or content that is illegal or that violates the Acceptable Use Policy.

We aim to keep Bates Math available, but we do not promise uninterrupted access. Inference, authentication, and hosting are provided by third parties. Maintenance, outages, and force majeure can interrupt the service. Fair-use allowances that were not used during an outage do not automatically roll over.

Bates Math is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bates Publishing disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the tutor is accurate, that grading will match a particular teacher's mark scheme, or that the product will raise a specific test score.

Some places do not allow certain disclaimers. In those places, the disclaimer applies to the fullest extent the law allows, and statutory rights you cannot waive remain.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bates Publishing is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or lost exam outcomes, arising from your use of Bates Math.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for a claim relating to the service is limited to fifty US dollars. This does not limit liability that the law says cannot be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence where that rule applies, or for fraud.

You will indemnify Bates Publishing against claims, damages, and reasonable legal fees arising from your misuse of the service, your user content, or your breach of these Terms, except to the extent we caused the harm.

You may stop using Bates Math at any time and may delete your account in Settings. We may suspend or terminate access if you break these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the product.

Sections that by their nature should survive (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, governing law) do survive.

Disputes should be raised with the developer at lagodaoleg1357@gmail.com before any filing. Mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence still apply where they cannot be waived.

We may update these Terms. The effective date on this page is the date the current version took effect. If a change is material we will post the new Terms here. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance, except where the law requires a different process.
