Acceptable Use Policy

What you may and may not do with Bates Math, including the AI tutor and generated content.

Effective 14 September 2026. Operator: Bates Publishing. Questions: contact the developer at lagodaoleg1357@gmail.com.

Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy describes what you may and may not do with Bates Math, including Ask Bates and generated visual problems. It is part of the Terms of Service.

Allowed use

You may use Bates Math to:

  • study Algebra 1 from Bates Publishing for yourself;
  • work published lessons, review, and the daily problem;
  • ask the tutor for explanations, similar practice, and visual walkthroughs within published limits;
  • keep a streak, earn XP, and take part in weekly leagues.

Accounts and access

  • Do not share your signed-in session or sell access to your account.
  • Do not create accounts by automated means or to evade published limits.
  • Do not attempt to access another person's account, the admin console, or data you do not own.
  • Do not probe, scan, or load-test the production site except through a coordinated report to the developer at lagodaoleg1357@gmail.com.

AI tutor and generated content

When you use Ask Bates or generated problems:

  • Use them as study aids. They can be wrong. Check the work, especially before an exam.
  • Do not try to jailbreak the tutor into producing unrelated harmful content, malware, weapons guidance, or sexual content involving minors.
  • Do not use the tutor to generate bulk homework keys for a class, to run a cheating service, or to harvest the catalogue through the chat.
  • Do not treat generated figures or explanations as Bates Publishing textbook pages that you may reprint.
  • Do not paste other people's confidential information (another student's work, unpublished exam papers you are not allowed to share, personal data of third parties) into the tutor.

Fair-use limits on tutor replies and generated visuals exist to keep the product usable for everyone. Circumventing them (extra accounts, scripted clients) is a breach of this policy.

Prohibited conduct

  • Illegal activity, including infringement of Bates Publishing copyrights.
  • Harassment, threats, or content that exploits or sexualises minors.
  • Malware, scraping at a volume that degrades the service, or attempts to bypass authentication or rate limits.
  • Misrepresenting tutor output as a human teacher's official mark.
  • Using Bates Math in a way that imposes an unreasonable load on inference or database capacity beyond ordinary study.

Staff uploads

Bates Publishing staff may upload textbook PDFs to the Bates Agent to build the problem catalogue. Those uploads must be material Bates Publishing has the right to use. The Agent is not a student feature. Students must not attempt to reach it.

Enforcement

We may rate-limit, suspend, or delete an account, or refuse a request that violates this policy. Where we can, we will say that we have done so. We may report criminal activity to the authorities.
