Start with your name and Google
Open Get started, tell us what to call you, then sign in with Google. There is no password on this site. School and personal Google accounts are supported.

Open Algebra 1 from the book
The live course is Algebra 1 practice from Bates Publishing's First Course in Algebra by Weeks & Adkins. Bates Math is the practice companion, not a second textbook.

Work the problem
Attempt the item. The tutor already knows the problem you are on, so you do not have to paste it in or photograph homework.

Ask Bates about the step you missed
The tutor sees the problem, your attempt, and the step you missed. You can begin with the part that is unclear. Replies are study aids, not official marks or a replacement for a teacher.

Every live problem comes from First Course in Algebra by Weeks & Adkins, published by Bates Publishing. Read the Algebra 1 overview for who the course is for and which units are in the roadmap.
